Celebrating communities that care

World Compassionate Communities Day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the people, organisations and communities helping create more compassionate responses to caring, ageing, serious illness, dying and grief.

Each year, communities across Australia and around the world come together to share ideas, celebrate local initiatives and inspire action that strengthens community capability and connection.

ABOUT THE DAY

A global movement for stronger communities

World Compassionate Communities Day celebrates the growing international movement that recognises caring, dying, grieving and supporting one another as a shared community responsibility.

It highlights the important role that families, friends, neighbours, workplaces, schools, community organisations and health services all play in creating compassionate communities.

The day provides an opportunity to learn, connect and celebrate the many ways communities are supporting one another.

2024 HIGHLIGHTS

Celebrating our inaugural event

In 2024, Compassionate Communities Australia proudly recognised World Compassionate Communities Day by bringing together communities, partners and supporters to celebrate local action and community-led approaches across Australia.

When we share our skills and kindness, neighbourhoods can become connected, confident and compassionate.
